The rule that matters most in this housing is quoting the whole job. A changeover that quietly leaves out the compliance work is not a cheaper quote, it is an incomplete one, and the difference turns up later as an argument rather than a saving.

From 1 May 2026, copper alloy fittings installed in contact with drinking water must be certified lead free, at no more than 0.25% lead by weighted average. It governs new work.
